Dr. Rebecca Martinez is a highly respected leader in the medical field with over 30 years of experience, specializing in obstetrics and gynecology. Recognized as one of Miami’s top OBGYNs, she has combined her clinical expertise with a passion for teaching, shaping the next generation of medical professionals. Her clinical career provided a strong foundation for her transition into medical education, where she now focuses on OBGYN and bioethics, helping students and residents navigate the complexities of patient care with ethical rigor and clinical excellence.

Currently, Dr. Martinez serves as the Vice Chair for Education in the Department of OB/GYN at Florida International University’s Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. In this role, she oversees curriculum development, clerkship programs, and faculty mentorship, ensuring that students receive both high-quality instruction and hands-on clinical experience. She also holds the position of Assistant Clerkship Director for OB/GYN, guiding medical students through their clinical rotations and fostering a culture of learning, professionalism, and patient-centered care.

Dr. Martinez earned her Master’s in Health Ethics from Creighton University and completed a Certificate in Education in Health Professions from Johns Hopkins University, reflecting her commitment to excellence in both medicine and education. Known for her expertise in medical education and clinical health ethics, she is dedicated to mentoring students, supporting faculty development, and advancing ethical and evidence-based practices in OBGYN, making a lasting impact on both her patients and the medical community.

I attribute my success to resilience and adaptability, as I pivoted my career to balance the demands of medicine with being a single mother, ensuring I could continue to serve patients while being present for my family.

My advice to young women entering medicine is to remember that your career is not static—embrace opportunities to grow, pivot, and shape your path while empowering yourself and others along the way.

The values most important to me are family, balance, and making meaningful connections, whether through my work, traveling, or spending quality time with my two daughters.
