Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a strong foundation in education, continuous learning, and a willingness to invest in leadership development. Earning my CPCU and ASLI designations through the Insurance Institute of America provided me with deep technical expertise and a disciplined understanding of risk, underwriting, and the broader insurance marketplace. That knowledge has allowed me to make informed, confident decisions while maintaining credibility with teams, partners, and clients.

Equally important to my growth was participating in the Kaufman Accelerated Management Progression Program, which strengthened my strategic thinking, financial acumen, and leadership skills. The program challenged me to think beyond day-to-day operations and focus on long-term vision, talent development, and organizational scalability. Together, these experiences shaped my ability to lead through change, build high-performing teams, and consistently deliver results in a dynamic and competitive industry.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would encourage young women entering the insurance industry to invest in themselves early and consistently. Pursuing professional designations, continuing education, and involvement in industry organizations builds both technical expertise and credibility, while also expanding networks and exposure to new opportunities. Knowledge is a powerful confidence builder, and it creates a strong foundation for long-term career growth.

Equally important is learning to challenge self-doubt and push beyond comfort zones. Confidence often comes after action, not before it. I advise young women to seek out mentors and allies who will provide honest feedback, advocacy, and perspective, and to remember that imposter syndrome is common—but it should never be a barrier to growth. By believing in their potential, asking for opportunities, and supporting one another, young women can build meaningful, impactful careers in this industry.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me, both professionally and personally, begin with continuous learning and empathy. I strongly believe in the power of education and professional development, while also recognizing that success does not follow a single path. Being respectful and empathetic toward individuals who may not have had access to traditional educational opportunities is essential to building inclusive, high-performing teams. I value curiosity, humility, and a willingness to learn from others at every stage of their journey.

I am also deeply committed to service and engagement within the insurance industry and the broader community. My involvement in wholesale and surplus lines associations reflects my belief in giving back to the profession that has shaped my career and supporting its future through education, collaboration, and mentorship. Staying connected to the industry allows me to contribute meaningfully while continuing to grow as a leader.

Finally, philanthropy—particularly in support of military families—is a core personal value shaped by my family background. Through Arbour Specialty, I am proud to support Camp Corral, an organization that provides free summer camps and critical resources to children of critically injured or fallen military personnel. Camp Corral is an affiliate of Arbour Specialty, owned by IMC in Raleigh, the founders of the Golden Corral restaurant chain. My personal involvement, including direct donations and arranging employee visits to Camp Corral camps, reflects how closely my values align with the company’s mission. That alignment was a key factor in my decision to join Arbour Specialty and continues to guide how I lead and serve.
