Her Interview

Ten minutes with Rebecca

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my curiosity and passion for solving complex UX challenges, along with my ability to adapt to evolving technologies, including artificial intelligence. I approach design holistically by balancing business objectives, technical capabilities, and end-user needs to create thoughtful, effective, and meaningful experiences.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

I believe the best career advice I’ve received is to think outside the box, step beyond the boundaries of my current role, and continuously invest in learning and professional growth. As technology evolves, particularly with the rapid advancement of AI, it is important to remain adaptable and open to new possibilities while never losing the human perspective.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the design industry is to trust your instincts, take up space, and have confidence in the value you bring to the table. Be a strong advocate for the user, and don’t be afraid to respectfully challenge team decisions when you have done your research and can support your perspective with evidence. Speak up with confidence, remain open to collaboration, and remember that thoughtful questions and informed opinions can help create better outcomes.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest opportunities and challenges in my field right now is the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence. AI can help designers work more efficiently, explore ideas faster, and streamline parts of the creative process, but it cannot replace human judgment, empathy, user research, or critical thinking. I believe the greatest opportunity is to use AI as a tool that enhances our capabilities while preserving the human-centered thinking and creativity that make effective design possible.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I value curiosity, adaptability, and continuous learning, both professionally and personally. I am committed to continually expanding my knowledge, embracing change, and staying open to new perspectives and technologies. Most importantly, I value being a strong advocate for the user and ensuring that empathy, thoughtful problem-solving, and human needs remain at the center of my work.
