Her Story

About Rebecca

I started as a teacher and loved the aspect of supporting students. I began as a special education teacher because those students really always just had a special place in my heart. I wanted to grow in my career but knew I didn't want to leave education. That led me into the sales world of education where I feel like I can still make a difference in students' lives through our Great Minds curriculum.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

It's just going for it and believing in yourself. I didn't really see myself in this role when I was in the classroom, but I always try to challenge myself and better myself. Doing something you love is key, and asking for growth opportunities from leadership.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Just being your authentic self is probably most important. Continue to challenge yourself, and ultimately ask questions. If you don't know the answer, never be afraid to ask questions or seek help from someone else.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge right now is funding, as schools each year have less of a budget. However, with great curriculum and great support through professional learning, we can see positive results in students, as shown by recent test score growth in Arkansas. That's our biggest opportunity even amidst budget concerns.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Growth for all students is most important. We believe at Great Minds that all of our students can succeed. Supporting students and seeing them grow not just in school but throughout their life is key.
