Her Story

About Rebecca

I started my career path trying to figure out how to use my love of science, information, and organizing. I initially went pre-med and got an EMT certification, but realized healthcare in that regard wasn't for me. That led me to my first extended project with GIS, doing mapping for intentional injuries with a medical center in Mobile, analyzing trends and demographics. I fell in love with GIS and started pursuing it more seriously as a career. I also volunteered for about 3 years with the Marine Mammal Stranding Network on the Gulf Coast, where I got my first real fieldwork experience with GIS datasets, trying to figure out why injuries were occurring to manatees, dolphins, and other marine mammals. I graduated in 2023 with my undergraduate in biology, specializing in environmental and marine sciences, then moved to Arizona to pursue my master's in GIS at ASU. While working between two internships (20 to 30 hours at each), I realized I wanted to get better at coding and looking at data more collectively, so I pursued a second master's in business analytics at ASU, graduating in December 2025. My team earned our Lean Six Sigma certification at Greenbelt level. I just hit my year and a half mark in my current role, which I got right after finishing my first master's in 2024. Most of my career has been in real estate and public infrastructure, and I love incorporating sustainability data whenever appropriate, as it's a major buying factor for millennials and Gen Z.
