Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a lifelong commitment to service in its many forms. After seven years in military supply and earning a degree in computer programming, I realized that my true calling was not with machines, but with people. This insight led me to a fulfilling 20-year career in Veterans Affairs healthcare administration. I retired from that role in 2024, yet my dedication to supporting veterans continues through advocacy and administrative work.

Beyond my professional career, I am a published author and founder of my own publishing company. One of the proudest chapters of my life began just before the pandemic, when my husband and I opened our home and hearts as foster parents, providing love and care to more than a dozen children. In healthcare, I have always found the deepest reward in the heartfelt gratitude of older veterans—those often overlooked in today’s fast-paced, digital world.

Faith is a guiding force in my life. I draw strength and comfort from the Bible, and I hope that my future work allows me to quietly share the good news of Christ. I strive to let that light shine through my actions, often before a single word is spoken.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this field is simple: have a genuine heart for people. Customer service is at the core of everything we do, and to succeed, you truly have to want to help others get what they need. When your focus is on serving with compassion and integrity, the rest will follow.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are service, compassion, and integrity. I strive to make a positive impact on others—whether supporting veterans, guiding colleagues, or mentoring young professionals. My faith is a central part of who I am, and I draw strength and guidance from reading my Bible. Outside of work, I enjoy following the San Antonio Spurs and spending time with my family, which helps me stay grounded and balanced.
