About Regine
I've been working in social work since 2022, starting my journey after completing my diploma in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. My first role was as an emergency winter responder, where I looked out for people who overdosed in the wintertime, giving out resources to help them get back on their feet and connecting them with therapy and addiction services if they wanted to start that journey. I then became a family support worker working with Indigenous families, which was a job I really loved because I do like working with children and families. In that role, I focused on getting families connected and making referrals for counseling, family therapy, and getting them assessed with occupational therapy, speech therapy, and mental health services. I moved to Ohio about a year ago, and currently I'm doing intensive care management. I'm also working toward my master's degree and will start my internship in the therapy department this August, running through May of next year. My end goal is to be a therapist, more focused on family therapy and working with children, though I think once I get my internship started and get a feel of everything, I'll see what age group I want to do therapy with. Along the way, I've gained certifications in mental health first aid and served as a parent facilitator for parenting groups, where I ran a lot of groups. Parents even asked if I had kids or assumed I did, which I took as a compliment because it showed they felt I knew what I was talking about.
