About Reina
Raina Monahan has dedicated the past four years to guiding young women through resources and programs emphasizing self-worth, healthy routines, financial terminology, and community building. After working as an assistant director at a licensed preschool and later as a server and bartender, which taught her about supporting people through life's steps, she became involved with the Distinguished Young Women scholarship program. There she offered opportunities in healthy morning routines, healthy relationships, communication skills, goal orientation, and financial resources to young ladies. Currently employed part-time at a gym while working to become a fitness trainer, Monahan continues connecting women with fitness resources and foundational knowledge. She attended college, where she focused on finding her independence and individuality. Monahan hosts a podcast called What It Means to be a Servant, encouraging self-love and helping others become better. She attributes her success to God and values giving love, patience, and grace to others and herself. Monahan advises getting comfortable with the uncomfortable and doing the inner work to create change.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Reina
01What do you attribute your success to?
Honestly, I would give God all the glory.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Getting comfortable with the uncomfortable. No matter how many roadblocks or things happen in life, different seasons have brought me the next tool, resource, or thought process. The not working out is working out for us.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Getting comfortable with the uncomfortable. No matter how many roadblocks happen in life, different seasons bring the next tool or resource. We have to count on ourselves to make change, to love ourselves, and do the inner work. No one else can do it for us.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is getting more people involved and making society aware of how valuable it is to teach young adults confidence, skills, and life skills. The opportunity is to not second-guess yourself when seeing someone or having a conversation - just talk to them.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Giving love. Being patient with each other no matter what place we're at or who we're with. Having grace with each other because we're all on different levels and have experienced certain things. Giving ourselves grace also.
