Her Story

About Renae

Renae Morgan serves in business development at First Capital Federal Credit Union in York, Pennsylvania, where she positions herself as a people connector dedicated to community outreach, networking events, wellness benefits, workshops, and literacy programs in schools. With 35 years in the field, she started as a teller at Central Savings Bank in Columbia, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, advanced to head teller, and later held roles as a loan officer and member service representative at credit unions before creating a business development position at one institution. She progressed to branch manager at Members First, where she earned presidential awards, and now focuses on growing business partnerships and community engagement. Renae is a senior ambassador for the York County Economic Alliance, serves on the board of directors for the York Literacy Institute for seven years, and participates in the Women's Network of York, Buy Local Coalition, and SHRM. She completed the Leadership York program and received a volunteer award from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Renae attributes her success to her outgoing personality and the positive people she surrounds herself with, values integrity and hard work above all, and credits early mentor Bill Cloyd with teaching her humility and the credit union philosophy of people helping people.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Renae

01What do you attribute your success to?

My success comes from my personality and the people I surround myself with. I am a people person and always surround myself with people that bring me up. You are who you hang around with. This personality makes connecting with others easy for me.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

My mentor Bill Cloyd taught me to be very humble when I first started out. That carried over into the credit union philosophy of people helping people. I helped a young recovering addict get an $8,000 car loan despite his past, and he now owns his own steakhouse. This shows the credit union difference of being humanized rather than just looking at credit scores.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Get involved with your community, find out who your leaders are, and watch them closely, walk beside them, learn everything you can from them. Be true to yourself and don't be afraid to speak up. Listen to your elders because we've been there and done that. Don't be shy but don't be aggressive either.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity is number one. Do the right thing all the time. Work hard.
