Her Interview

Ten minutes with Renee

01What do you attribute your success to?

I've been fortunate to have some really good mentors in my life, being able to work alongside some strong women. Dr. Anna Valor was a huge inspiration. My former director Rebecca Notgrass taught me what it was to be a leader, especially being a woman, and not always being invited to the table. She said nobody's going to give you a seat at the table, so you have to bring your own plate and fork. She believed in my leadership skills before I even believed in myself and gave me my first opportunity in healthcare.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I ever received was to never compromise my integrity for a title, a promotion, or approval. Skills can be learned, and positions can change, but your character is the one thing you carry into every room. I’ve found that the most meaningful success comes from staying true to who you are, even when it’s the harder path

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

To every young woman entering healthcare—or any industry—remember this: never confuse kindness for weakness, and never mistake confidence for arrogance simply because someone else does. Your perspective matters. Your voice matters. Lead with integrity, stay curious, and keep learning. The titles will come and go, but your character will become your greatest leadership credential. And if you ever find yourself waiting for permission to belong, stop waiting. Build your own seat at the table, then make room for the next woman beside you.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Healthcare is at a pivotal moment. While technology and artificial intelligence are reshaping our industry, the true opportunity isn’t replacing the human element—it’s strengthening it. The future of healthcare depends on leaders who can bridge innovation with compassion, unite diverse teams around a shared vision, and create sustainable solutions that improve both patient outcomes and the caregiver experience. I believe our greatest challenge is not adapting to change, but leading people through it with empathy, integrity, and purpose.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

My experience includes leading high-performing teams across registration, billing, call centers, and provider groups to streamline workflows and reduce risk. Designing and implementing processes that significantly improved clean claim rates, reduced surgical cancellations, and earned Gold-level recognition for denial reduction. Developing system-wide financial counseling programs, improving newborn registration workflows, and leading multiple A3 process improvement projects. Partnering closely with clinical and executive leadership.
