About Renita
Renita Lablue served 30 years in the U.S. Army, advancing through roles that included executive administrator, operations manager, human resources advisor, and senior enlisted advisor to the Army Reserve. In her final military position, she educated senior leaders on corporate opportunities and helped soldiers translate their military experience for successful transitions to civilian careers. After retiring from the Army, she spent seven years as a program manager handling government contracts. She earned a bachelor's degree in human resources from Columbia Southern University, which she chose for its military-friendly flexibility while balancing career and family responsibilities. She also obtained certifications in HR, program management, and Lean Six Sigma, achieving a yellow-brown belt. Renita attributes her drive to her children, for whom she sought to provide stability despite personal challenges such as divorce. Her core values center on faith in God, family, and her purpose of helping others elevate to their best selves. She continues this mission through volunteer work assisting veterans with VA claims and benefits education. To young women entering male-dominated fields like the military, she advises staying true to oneself, understanding one's purpose, and refusing to let external distractions derail goals.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Renita
01What do you attribute your success to?
My children gave me the drive to keep pushing. I wanted to provide a stable living, a stable lifestyle, where they didn't have to suffer for choices that I made in life, even down to me and their father divorcing. So, I think I was just driven by making sure that I could actually provide for us.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Be true to they self, know who they are, and why they're doing what they are doing. We're a male-dominant world... telling them to just truly, truly be true in who they are. And know, what it is they're doing and why they're doing what they doing. And never let nothing else distract them from this.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
My faith in God, my family. Family is very big for me. And from there, the value of understanding what my purpose is here, and to help others, and, which has always been a passion, but I understand that it's my purpose as well, because that's what I was called to do, is to help, help others, and help others elevate to be the best version of theirself that they can be.
