Her Story

About reva

I'm an Executive Loan Officer at Independence, a position that's not as common at my age. I help clients find their forever home, and I especially focus on helping veterans lower their monthly payments. I've seen how other companies like Rocket Mortgage and Freedom overcharge them and don't go out of their way to see what benefits they can acquire for them, so that's what I do differently. I got into finance through a really good friend from high school who would always talk to me about the mortgage broker industry. As I grew up, I saw how well he was doing, and I decided to try it. I took the licensing test and never looked back. It's been almost a year now in this field. I used to work at Apple before this, and I'm still currently in school at Arizona State University for mechanical engineering. When I graduate, I'm either going to stay in finance or go to law school to be in patent law, which you can only do if you have a background in STEM. Executive loan officers usually need either a bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of experience, so it's a little rare at my age to be an executive.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would honestly first say, literally, do whatever makes you happy, but just make sure if you go this finance route, you know, there's gonna be a lot of ups and downs, mostly downs in the beginning, but once you get the ball moving, it'll all be worth it. You just can't give up.
