Her Interview
Ten minutes with Rhianna
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to pushing myself to do the best I possibly can every day. My son is also a major source of motivation. I became a mother at 20, and navigating both motherhood and my career has pushed me to work harder, persevere through challenges, and set a strong example for him.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have received is to remember that not every sale defines me. In sales, rejection and lost opportunities are part of the process. I have learned not to become discouraged by a lost sale or to interpret it as a reflection of my capabilities. Instead, I keep moving forward and focus on the next opportunity.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women is not to become discouraged by people who may make them feel inadequate or suggest that they cannot accomplish what others can. Women are capable of achieving anything they set their minds to, and it is important not to allow negative energy or other people's doubts to distract from their goals. Keep moving forward, stay focused, and believe in what you are capable of accomplishing.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I see helping small businesses break into the government contracting space as both a significant challenge and an important opportunity. The federal contracting environment can be complex, with regulations and requirements continually changing. Keeping up with new federal rules and understanding how those changes apply to different types of businesses—including IT, janitorial services, construction, and aerospace—can be challenging. At the same time, helping small businesses understand and navigate these requirements creates meaningful opportunities to support their growth in the federal marketplace.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Dedication is extremely important to me. I also value understanding, loyalty, honesty, and trustworthiness. In my family life, we place a strong emphasis on being honest with one another, and I believe that trust creates greater understanding and allows people to extend grace to each other. Ultimately, everything I do is motivated by my family and my commitment to supporting them.
