Her Story

About Rhonda

My career path goes way back to being a summer camp counselor - I've always loved working with youth. I worked my way through college every summer at the Fuller Centers in Boca Raton, which at that time was called Florence Fuller Child Development Center. When I returned back from college, I started working there as after-school director and just kind of worked my way up. Over my 32 years in the nonprofit sector, I've worked with the Children's Service Council of Palm Beach County as a Program Officer and Grant Manager, and eventually became CEO of a nonprofit in Lake Worth called Lake Worth Residence Planning Group, which is now Family Impact. Then, shortly after leaving there for four and a half years, I decided to launch my own nonprofit in July of 2021, coming out of the pandemic. I really wanted to have the opportunity to do programming that I liked in the communities that I grew up in. I focus on South Palm Beach County - Delray, Boynton, and Boca, Green Acres area. We do mentoring for girls, STEM conferences and STEM activities in the summertime when they're out on summer break, and every Tuesday I work with senior citizens through a program called Aging Gracefully. My main areas of expertise are program planning, program development, fundraising, community partnership, and community organizing.

Ten minutes with Rhonda

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my grandparents - they were very philanthropic and loved community. They liked being in the community and they both were business owners. It was just rooted in me from childhood through my grandparents. I was raised by my grandparents, and they poured into me the values of giving back and being active in the community that have guided my entire career.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received is: Don't sweat the small stuff.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are community, philanthropy, and giving back. I've always loved working with youth and seeing how you can impact their life. I had mentors when I was growing up who poured into me, and so I kind of do the same. It's about being in the community, serving others, and making a difference in the lives of women, girls, and senior citizens through education and life skills development.
