About Ria
Ria Gilliam serves as an Onboarding Account Manager within the financial technology sector in Chicago. She entered the fintech field in 2024 after moving to the city, drawing inspiration from her degree in financial analysis and a desire to embrace advancing technology rather than resist it. In her current role, Ria manages client portfolios, acts as a strategic advisor, ensures data accuracy, and proposes new technologies for company use, all while maintaining strong customer relations. Her educational background includes graduation from Valparaiso High School and Purdue University in 2023, and she is actively pursuing a Financial Technology Certification through the Corporate Finance Institute. Prior to fintech, Ria gained experience in retirement services, as an intern at Enterprise Rent-A-Car, and in bridal sales, which helped build her confidence and professional skills.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Have thick skin. Understand that setbacks are only a chance for you to take 3 steps forward. Never stop being yourself, just understand certain time and place for things, but always stay true to yourself, your morals, your values, and when you're looking at companies, see how you can incorporate your personality and your morals and ethical compass into that company.
