Her Story

About Rimpee

I am a doctor. For the past 10 years, I have been working as both an artist and author. I have been creating art since high school and learned through college courses as well as being self-taught. My current work focuses on my upcoming poetry book called Mind Blossom, which will be publishing in the next few months. This book encourages leaders to look inward to find clarity and purpose, following the theme of introspection and growth. My poetry is about slowing down enough to see the blossom within the chaos and finding the light in the most complex spaces. The message I convey through my art and poetry is to not be afraid to bring your own words, your craft, your passion, and to bring all of who you are to the table. We are all authors of our own stories and the scientists of our own existence. I have recently exhibited my work across the globe at several galleries, with my best exhibitions being at Art 3 Art Fair in Paris and Art Basel in Miami. I have also published a book in Punjabi language, which is available on Amazon and Amazon India. I recently had one of my poems included in the Illinois Poetry collection, which is publishing in June. I believe the language of art is universal and that art is therapy, offering healing and mental well-being. For people like me who are introverted and not very open to talk with others, they can express their emotions through poetry and art. I believe that besides medications, it is very important to approach the holistic version in medicine too, so that the healing process takes faster rather than just medications. One of my works that I really like is called Fragility and Vitality, which represents the beauty of resilience. My art represents the journey of life from symbolism, specifically the concept of self-reflection, from falling apart to falling into place, from surviving to thriving in life.

Ten minutes with Rimpee

01What do you attribute your success to?

I would say it's the grace of God and also the support of the family that pushes you towards your goal, towards the purpose of life, that keeps reminding you that you have to be an independent woman, which is very important in today's generation. Also, there's nothing without God, so I always seek the guidance whenever I need it.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice is to never give up. If you have something in your heart that you truly want to do, there's going to be obstacles, there's going to be hardships, but never give up. If God has put something in your heart, that means it's already meant for you. It's already there for you. So, never give up.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Just trust the process. In medicine, it is a long process, so trust the process. Sometimes there is going to be moments where we can see it is chaos, but there is always beauty in the chaos, so don't ever forget to bloom. Just keep blooming, and you will find your way. Besides whatever you do, keep observing, keep creating, and keep finding the wonder in the mundanity of our lives. My art represents the journey of life, the concept of self-reflection from falling apart to falling into place, from surviving to thriving in life. So I would say, keep moving no matter what comes up in life.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The challenges I would say is that it's very competitive everywhere we go, so you have to just keep going, you have to trust the process. There's always going to be someone who is better than you, but it's not about who is better and who's not. It's always about the fact that everyone has their own opinion, everyone has their own way to look at life and their own way to create. We should learn from each other instead of competing with each other. The only competition is yourself, so getting better than yesterday is what matters.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I would say both in work and personal life, the most important values are accountability, honesty, and being willing to do the hard work. If I have chosen this path, I know that there's going to be hardships, there's going to be so many things that I can encounter, but I have to be willing to put my 100% to it.
