Rita Jones-Safian

Rita Jones-Safian is a seasoned sales and marketing leader with over 30 years of experience, currently serving as Regional Team Lead at the New York Alliance for Developmental Disabilities (NYADD) in Long Island, New York. Her career began in the magazine industry in New York City, where she contributed to publications such as Ladies Home Journal, Homeowners, and LEADERS Magazine. Following the passing of her father, a renowned 1980s boxing manager, Rita transitioned into sales with Yellow Book, USA, quickly emerging as a top-performing Account Executive before joining Clipper Magazine, where she spent the majority of her career and retired in 2024. Throughout her tenure, she excelled in sales leadership, business development, and team mentorship, consistently ranking among the top performers nationwide.

Rita’s professional achievements are complemented by her deep commitment to advocacy and community service, which stems from her personal journey as a mother. After her son Daniel was diagnosed with Autism at 18 months, she devoted herself to advancing disability awareness and support. She has volunteered and fundraised for multiple nonprofits, including the Developmental Disabilities Institute (DDI), The Elija Foundation, and Autism United, generating substantial support and resources for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Her work bridges both corporate strategy and compassionate advocacy, demonstrating her ability to create meaningful impact across sectors.

Today, at NYADD, Rita leads initiatives to amplify the voices of families and individuals with disabilities across New York State, engaging with policymakers, agencies, and the broader community to improve transparency, services, and outcomes. She continues to champion legislative priorities, mentor emerging leaders, and strengthen networks of support for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Guided by resilience, experience, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community, Rita’s career exemplifies how professional excellence and heartfelt advocacy can drive positive change.
