About Rita

Rita Ullom is a retired CDC-certified Holistic and Diabetes Prevention Lifestyle Coach whose career spans decades of dynamic professional experience across multiple industries. A graduate of Florida International University's College of Business with a Bachelor's degree in Economics and a minor in Business, Rita began her professional journey working alongside her father in his import/export and construction empire in Miami — starting as early as age 13 and rising through the ranks to Vice President before the company was sold. She later built a successful career in real estate and luxury homebuilding alongside her husband, before transitioning into the wellness industry, where she dedicated over 22 years to fitness instruction, rehabilitation, and mindfulness programming at institutions including Memorial Hospital, Palm West Hospital, and Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale. She holds a Certified Mind Body and Fitness Coach credential from the Spencer Institute in addition to her CDC certification as a National Diabetes Prevention Lifestyle Coach.

Guided by a deep belief in the connection between mind, body, and soul, Rita has made it her mission to educate and empower individuals to adopt sustainable, whole-person approaches to their health — encompassing nutrition, fitness, meditation, and mental well-being. Her coaching philosophy centers on reducing reliance on medication and improving quality of life through informed, compassionate guidance. Fluent in both English and Spanish, she has served a wide range of populations throughout her career, including at-risk youth, cancer patients, and individuals at risk for diabetes, always approaching her work with the authenticity and integrity instilled in her by her Cuban parents, whom she credits as her greatest influence and the foundation of her success.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Rita is a dedicated philanthropist who currently serves as an Ambassador for Opportunity International, a global non-profit organization committed to eradicating poverty through microfinancing and education. In this role, she channels the same values of service, strategic thinking, and genuine human connection that have defined her career into uplifting underserved communities around the world. Whether coaching clients toward healthier lives or advocating for economic empowerment on a global scale, Rita Ullom exemplifies a life lived in purposeful service to others — driven by faith, love, and an unwavering commitment to making a meaningful difference.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Rita

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the way my parents raised me. Growing up in a Cuban household, I never saw my parents follow others — I always saw them as leaders. My father instilled in me a strong sense of organization and strategic thinking, while my mother modeled love and compassion. Those values have guided everything I've done throughout my career.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I ever received came from my sales director and mentor, Elena Peralakis. She encouraged me to use the tools and skills I had built, and then simply do what feels genuine. Her wisdom was to never approach clients as if you're trying to win their business — instead, present yourself as an open, trustworthy, and authentic person whom they would be fortunate to have in their corner. That philosophy shaped the way I've built every professional relationship since.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women is to commit fully to your training and education. Whatever field you choose, learn it deeply — understand the rules, the processes, and the nuances of your profession. More importantly, always act in the genuine best interest of your clients. When you approach your work with integrity, thorough preparation, and a true desire to provide value, you position yourself to be not just competent, but truly impactful.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

In real estate, the biggest challenge today is economic and governmental uncertainty, which directly affects buyers' access to financing. Properties in the mid-range — under one to two million dollars — are especially sensitive to lending conditions. However, the luxury market, particularly properties at around four million dollars and above, continues to see activity among cash buyers. My advice to agents navigating this environment is to always verify a buyer's financing or funding early in the process, before investing significant time and energy.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that matter most to me are service, education, love, organization, and strategic thinking. I believe deeply in the connection between mind, body, and soul, and I carry that philosophy into both my professional and personal life. Faith in oneself, a genuine desire to help others, and a commitment to empowering people to make lasting, meaningful changes — those are the principles that have shaped everything I do.
