Her Story
About Ritika
I've been working in the healthcare field for 2 years now, and I've been in my current position as a Lead Data Engineer for about a year. I'm the single person on my team who handles the entire data pipeline and oversees all the data work that's happening - building models, doing analysis, and nowadays we've started using AI agents. When I first joined this company, I led a major migration project from SQL Server to Snowflake dbt, which was one of my most notable achievements. Currently, I'm working on developing metrics that are going to be very useful for the clinicians in my company to take better care of patients, as well as supporting our finance team. I hold a Master's degree in Information Systems from a U.S. university and an Advanced Certificate in Data Science, which I completed with a 3.98 GPA. Early in my career, I worked at Accenture where I received an early promotion. I was also selected as one of the top students from my college to attend GHC.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I ever received was from my manager, who told me that a person can learn skills - you might not know how to work on something, but you can learn it over time. However, things like hard work and sincerity, they come with you, they're inbuilt. That's not something you can learn over time, until and unless you know how to do it. This really resonated with me because it emphasized that while technical abilities can be developed, the core values of dedication and integrity are fundamental qualities that define who you are as a professional.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
The advice I would like to give to women entering this field is that there are plenty of things to consider, but I think I will always like to say that this field can be a little overwhelming sometimes. Because you're a woman, and then you have other responsibilities too. But it's always very rewarding. And it will always pay off at the end. All the hard work that we are doing will always pay off. So keep doing it, and we will surely see the results soon, sooner or later.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges in my field right now are the new AI integration that's coming in. You'll have to keep in pace with all these new technologies coming in, and keep working around with it, and also see what actually fits in your work, and how we can make your work better or easier. It's about staying current and being strategic about which innovations to adopt.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
For me, the most important values are hard work and honesty. I think whichever domain that we are in, be it personal life or be it the work life, I think hard work and honesty are the most important things. These values guide everything I do, both professionally and personally.
