01What do you attribute your success to?

🏆Empowering Women Leaders’24

🏆Entrepreneur Women’25

🏆Transparent CEO’25

🏆Global Purpose Leader’26

I'd attribute my success to a combination of hard work, strategic thinking, and a passion for driving positive change. As Executive Director of The SOL Foundation, I've had the opportunity to merge my business acumen with a desire to support environmental education and sustainability. My experience in navigating complex regulations, managing teams, and coaching nonprofits has been invaluable.

But honestly, it's also about relationships – building trust with stakeholders, partners, and the community. And being adaptable in a rapidly changing landscape, whether it's shifting laws or emerging trends.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

I'd say it's being the Executive Director of The SOL Foundation. It aligns with my passion for environmental sustainability and education, and allows me to leverage my business background to drive real impact. Plus, working with a global team and navigating international projects keeps things dynamic and fulfilling.

But if I'm being totally honest, I'd say my MBA was a game-changer career-wise. It gave me the tools to scale my impact, whether in the nonprofit or for-profit space.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I'd say don't be afraid to carve your own path – especially in the nonprofit sector, where passion and grit can take you far. Build a network of mentors and peers who support and challenge you. And don't shy away from the "business" side of nonprofits – understanding finances, strategy, and leadership can amplify your impact.

Also, be kind to yourself – the journey's a marathon, not a sprint 😊. Stay curious, keep learning, and trust your voice matters.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

As Executive Director of The SOL Foundation, I'm seeing several key challenges and opportunities in the environmental education and sustainability sector. One major challenge is balancing innovation with day-to-day realities, especially with limited budgets and increasing demands for impactful outcomes. There's also the issue of teacher burnout and workload, which can hinder effective sustainability education.

On the flip side, opportunities abound. The integration of AI and technology is revolutionizing education, enabling personalized learning and more efficient resource management. The growing focus on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and initiatives like the Greening Education Partnership are empowering people with the knowledge and skills to drive environmental change.

Additionally, the rising awareness of climate change and sustainability among students and communities presents a chance for educational institutions to lead by example and foster eco-consciousness.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

For me, transparency and impact are huge. As Executive Director of The SOL Foundation, I believe in openness in everything we do – whether it's financials, decision-making, or sharing outcomes. It's about building trust and accountability.

Impact is the other big one. I'm driven by creating meaningful change, especially in environmental sustainability and education. Knowing our work is contributing to a larger good? That's what gets me energized.

On a personal level, family and integrity matter a ton. Being a sister, daughter, aunt, mentor and a friend, being part of a community – it all ties back to doing work that's genuine and aligned with who I am.
