Her Interview

Ten minutes with Robin

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the grace of God. Throughout my life and career, I have faced situations that could have had very different outcomes, and there have been many moments when I have realized that I am not even supposed to be here today. My faith has given me the strength, resilience, and perseverance to overcome challenges, continue moving forward, and remain grateful for every opportunity and blessing along the way.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received is to know my worth and stand firmly in it. Understanding the value I bring to the table has given me the confidence to advocate for myself, recognize my strengths, and ensure that my contributions are respected and appreciated.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the industry is to pace yourself and recognize that you are stepping into a new environment with a great deal to contribute and learn. Take things one step at a time, give yourself time to grow, and avoid feeling pressured to accomplish everything at once. With patience, consistency, and a willingness to learn, you can build a strong and successful career.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is getting people to truly listen, understand, and accept the services and support available to them. Many individuals may feel isolated or believe they have to face their challenges alone, which can make it difficult for them to reach out or accept help. At the same time, there is a meaningful opportunity to remind people that they are not alone and that support is available. Helping individuals feel heard, understood, and connected to the resources they need is one of the most important aspects of the work I do.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Self-care is one of the most important values in both my work and personal life. As a social worker, I understand that I cannot effectively care for and support others if I am not taking care of myself first. Prioritizing my own well-being allows me to remain emotionally, mentally, and physically present for the people I serve, while also helping me maintain the strength and resilience needed to continue supporting others.
