Her Interview
Ten minutes with Rocio
01What do you attribute your success to?
My upbringing with parents who were very hard workers showed by example that there's only one way to do things, the right way, not cutting corners, being honest and straightforward, and being goal-getters. This contributed to my work ethic, principles, and values.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Try to go to any place where you think you're going to add value, find what's needed and bring value. Do not be afraid to be in a room full of men. If you know your knowledge, you will never be singled out. Add value, don't be afraid, look to opportunities around, and be as prepared as you can. Our jobs don't have a gender.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Challenges include finding a company that aligns with my values for long-term growth amid changes in leadership and reduced profit sharing. Opportunities in Texas include endless growth in construction and technology, with my experience, language skills, and knowledge of the area providing many options.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Honesty, work ethic, respect, and empathy are most important to me.
