Known for her relatable and practical approach, Ronnae begins sessions as early as 7 AM to accommodate clients’ schedules, ensuring consistent, meaningful engagement while modeling the self-care practices she encourages in her clients.

Ronnae’s journey to therapy was shaped by both exploration and experience. Initially working in administrative roles while attending college, she explored diverse interests before discovering her passion for psychology and mental health. Her innate ability to offer authentic guidance led her to pursue advanced training, earning both a Bachelor’s in Industrial and Organizational Psychology and a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Touro University Worldwide. Her internship at Urban Restoration Counseling Center provided critical supervision and hands-on experience, solidifying her commitment to ethical, effective, and compassionate care.

Beyond her professional work, Ronnae is deeply passionate about fostering personal growth and empowerment. She values helping individuals reconnect with themselves and society, particularly through her work with non-profits serving low-income communities. When she’s not in session, she enjoys traveling, exploring new cuisines, photography, and live music. Her mission is clear: to help people live fully, embrace their challenges, and cultivate joy and resilience in their lives.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to persistence and self-awareness. I have sought out diverse roles to find where my strengths and passions align, committed to the necessary training, and embraced guidance and feedback from internship supervisors and mentors along the way.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I received was from my supervisor, Chanel: “They came to you for your expertise. You are the professional. Always remember that.” It reminds me to stay confident with clients and parents, maintain professionalism, and set clear boundaries—while still being approachable and relatable.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this field is to embrace your individuality and put yourself first. It’s easy to feel like you don’t fit the traditional mold of professionalism, but authenticity matters. I’ve learned that being true to yourself—even if it feels unconventional—can help others feel understood and supported, especially when they’re navigating challenging experiences.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is helping people find a therapist who’s the right fit. Many individuals stop therapy because they haven’t found someone they connect with. I see this as an opportunity to change that perception. Therapy doesn’t have to fit a stereotype—it can be a genuine, supportive relationship where clients feel understood and met where they are. My goal is to help as many people as possible experience that kind of meaningful connection.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

In both my work and personal life, I value peace and time to recharge, as well as individuality—helping people understand themselves without feeling “weird” or out of place. I also place a high importance on friendship and cultivating a strong inner circle, because supportive relationships are essential when family or other connections aren’t enough.

I prioritize transparency over simple honesty; being upfront builds trust and clarity in both personal and professional interactions. I’m also committed to justice and direct communication—cutting through unnecessary complexity to get to the point. These values guide how I connect with others and approach my work every day.
