About Rosalind
Rosalind Koop is an accomplished educational leader serving as an Assistant Principal at Mary E. Britton Middle School in Lexington, Kentucky. With 17 years of experience in education, she has dedicated her career to supporting student achievement, strengthening instructional practices, and fostering positive learning environments. She spent 12 years teaching middle school language arts before transitioning into instructional coaching, where she supported educators across 12 middle schools in her district for three years. Now in her second year as an assistant principal, Rosalind is particularly proud of helping open a brand-new middle school, contributing to the development of its culture, systems, and educational programs.
Rosalind's academic background reflects her commitment to professional growth and educational excellence. She earned her bachelor's degree in education from Northern Kentucky University in 2011, followed by a Master of Education in Teacher Leadership from Thomas More University in 2016. In 2020, she completed an Education Specialist degree in School Leadership and Principal Preparation at the University of Kentucky, earning her Rank I qualification. Throughout her career, she has focused on instructional leadership, literacy development, curriculum improvement, teacher mentorship, and student support. Her dedication to education has earned her recognition, including the University of Kentucky's Teachers Who Make a Difference Award in 2020 and a Kentucky Teacher of the Year nomination.
Beyond her work in school administration, Rosalind is the executive director of Real Girls Stand Strong, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to building self-esteem and confidence among adolescent girls. She is passionate about empowering young people and creating opportunities for them to develop into confident, capable individuals. Rosalind attributes much of her success to the influential women in her life who believed in her and encouraged her growth. She values humility, integrity, service, collaboration, and constructive feedback, which guide her leadership and personal relationships. Outside of her professional commitments, she enjoys traveling and exploring new experiences.
