Her Story

About Rosaly

I've been working as a School Counselor at Code High School since February 2021, and I absolutely love it. My main areas of expertise are mental health and academic support, and what I find most rewarding is my ability to easily connect with my students and have a real impact on them. I've even had students who graduated come back and thank me for my support, which is incredibly meaningful to me. Before my current role, I worked for a few months as a counselor for Rutgers University's pre-college program, helping first-generation students. Prior to that, I spent almost three years as a program coordinator for a program called Aspire High, which focused on first-generation and low-income students. I coordinated after-school program activities with the goal of exposing these students to resources and higher opportunities to excel in their academics. Throughout all phases and stages of my life, I've been fortunate to have people who supported me, and I attribute my success to anyone who has been there for me along the way.

Ten minutes with Rosaly

01What do you attribute your success to?

I would say, in general, just anyone who has supported me throughout all phases and stages of my life. I've been fortunate to have people there for me along the way, and that support has been instrumental in helping me get to where I am today.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Never give up on yourself, as cliche as it sounds. There will be people who try to take away your spark. Don't allow anyone to take that away from you. I like to simplify it even more by saying: use your heart as a light. That's something I really believe in and want to share with others entering this field.
