Soto is an active alumna of the Los Ingenieros chapter at UCSB and is beginning involvement with Santa Barbara Women in STEM. As the first in her family to attend college, she takes pride in her non-linear path into engineering as a Latina woman in STEM.

Ten minutes with Roselyn

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Say yes with an open mind. Even just keeping that open mind is super helpful, especially because I think for me, I had to really think outside of the box, because my path wasn't linear. I was in the robotics club, doing research in mechanical engineering and materials engineering departments, research in mathematics department. Keeping myself busy was a big thing, and that was all a result of me always saying yes.
