Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to discipline, persistence, meticulous documentation, and a willingness to dig deeper to solve even the most complicated problems. Staying organized and taking initiative have allowed me to manage high-stakes financial issues — including negotiating successful settlements like the one during the Kmart bankruptcy — and build a long, successful career across top fashion brands by staying sharp, proactive, and committed through every challenge.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received came from seasoned colleagues who taught me to document everything, understand the full financial flow, and approach every deduction with a clear strategy. I also carry lessons from my late husband’s health journey, which taught me perspective, strength, and the importance of listening to my body and prioritizing my health.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to stay motivated, ask questions, and never hesitate to seek help or do extra research. Learn the systems, keep detailed notes, understand deduction timelines, and stay on top of compliance—confidence and persistence will carry you through even the steepest learning curves.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field right now is navigating strict retailer timelines, outsourced payables departments, post-COVID operational shifts, and the rising volume of chargebacks from major retailers. At the same time, there’s a real opportunity to become the go-to expert for dispute management, strengthen internal compliance systems, and use thorough documentation to better protect companies financially.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity, accuracy, compliance, timeliness, and responsibility are core to everything I do. I value honesty and accountability, and I try to stay proactive and diligent—both in my work and in my personal life. Taking care of my health and staying alert, especially as a woman who often travels alone, is also extremely important to me.
