Her Interview
Ten minutes with Roslyn
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to seeing the differences in individuals that I lead. No matter how smart I may think I am, I want those around me that are even smarter. So I try to take the unique attributes of those that report to me and help them grow tailored to the work that we're actually completing. Being a person who celebrates others, empowers others to be great, and pushes them to go find things that bring them joy is what I think has made me a great leader.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
I was told a long time ago that I create my own journey. Whether it's finding ways to grow professionally, whether it's networking, whether it's finding a group outside of my own company to find someone to mentor me, that is something that I learned very, very early on in my career, and it's made the world of difference in me maintaining my ability to be excited every day that I work. So every day, I find my own excitement, and I find my own way to grow.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Network. Understand trends, and most importantly, understand your consumers. It is your ultimate role to protect your brand, and you can't do that if you don't understand your consumers.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
There's a lot of opportunity for growth if you wanted to leave outside of your existing employer. There's also an opportunity to learn more like on the quality side. Some of the challenges is finding ways to be motivated and love what you do every day.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Respect is the number one value that I would say in both my professional and my personal life. I am a military spouse, so the pride that I have for our country comes from that, and it is a respect for all of those within our country.
