What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to resilience, mentorship, and a clear purpose. Life’s challenges have shaped who I am, but what drives me most is my son—being a role model and provider for him motivates me every day. Strong female mentors have guided me along the way, and on tough days, my “why” keeps me focused and determined. My goal is to show that with perseverance and dedication, challenges can be overcome, and success is achievable.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received came from mentors who consistently reminded me of my worth and capabilities. Their message was simple but powerful: don’t forget who you are, and always believe in your abilities. That guidance has stayed with me throughout my career, giving me confidence to take on challenges and pursue opportunities.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
The best advice I can give to young women entering my industry is to keep your purpose front and center and believe in yourself. Mentorship from strong female managers profoundly shaped my career, reminding me of my worth and what I’m capable of. During challenging times, it’s important to self-reflect, acknowledge your accomplishments—big or small—and reconnect with your “why.” When you know your purpose and believe in yourself, others will see it too, and it will guide you to success.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field is ensuring continued support for women in STEM and expanding access to preventative care in underserved communities. At the same time, there are exciting opportunities, particularly with major investments in AI. AI tools have the potential to leverage large clinical and molecular datasets to improve diagnostics and patient care, transforming the way we approach healthcare and research.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide me in both my work and personal life are mentorship, resilience, and family—especially motherhood. I’m also deeply committed to community service and advancing women’s health. These values shape the way I approach challenges, support others, and make an impact in my field.
