Her Interview

Ten minutes with Roxana

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to not giving up, trying things even if they do or do not work out, always thinking positive, continuing to grow my network to find aligned connections and community, and being grateful for my team and the people I meet. We live in a world of relationships.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Don't give up. If you have a passion for something, keep trying, pivoting. When you fail, it's when you give up. Seek advice from people that were successful in that area, find individuals as mentors to help guide you, and having a network and guidance is key for success.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't get worked up with trying to have everything figured out. It's all about the pivots and figuring out what that is, even if it's failures, learning from that. Do a career that you feel aligned to and that brings meaning in our life. Be grateful and appreciative for the journey, and when something is not aligned, make the pivot.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

There's been a shift with a lot of layoffs and the AI shift replacing operational jobs. For nonprofits, there may not be as much federal grants so they need to diversify income streams. Always look at opportunities where there's a need, find solutions, and address problems that make an impact.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Establish boundaries clearly and often. Having peace of mind is crucial because time is limited, so spend time more effectively and meaningfully on what defines happiness for us, avoiding distractions that are not specific to your goals.
