About ROXANNE
I started my career in banking right out of college after earning my Bachelor's in finance and human resource. I always admired how well put together the bankers were when I would go to the bank with my family in my younger years, and I said to myself, I want to be a banker someday. When I graduated, I started working as a teller, and within 6 months, I was promoted to a banker. That progression has brought me to where I am today, with 19 years in the banking industry. Currently, I serve as a branch leader vice president, managing a team of 7 bankers. My main role is to coach, develop, and help my teammates feel empowered to help our clients as they walk through the door. I focus on financial literacy, guidance, and education, from individuals to business development. I don't just focus on opening accounts or doing loans, but I make sure that everything we do is based on purpose to help our clients. I also partner with the community to provide financial literacy and ensure that we lend with integrity, regardless of background. Every client that walks through the door feels seen, heard, and their financial situation is handled ethically. I'm currently pursuing my master's in leadership and development in the 21st century to further develop my skills in educating our younger generation on how to make sound financial decisions.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would ask them one basic question: What is your passion? What do you like? It's better to go into an industry that you love, because the delivery is more impactful. I wouldn't encourage someone to go into an industry just because of money or status. I would encourage them to make sure that whatever industry, whether my industry or any industry that they're going in, they have a passion for it. At the same time, I would always encourage individuals to explore opportunities, not just settle for one opportunity that could just come knocking at your door. Make sure that you love what you can deliver in this industry, whether it's service, lending, or counseling in terms of financial education. Make sure you have a passion for it, in any industry that you go into.
