Roya Sadeghi, RN, BSN, CCTC, is a highly experienced transplant coordinator with over three decades of dedication to healthcare. Currently based in Greater Houston, she most recently served as Lead Pulmonary and Lung Transplant Coordinator at Keck Medicine of USC and as a Transplant Coordinator at Houston Methodist. Her professional journey spans heart and lung transplant coordination, multi-organ transplant care, and extensive clinical experience in pediatric and cardiothoracic settings, reflecting a deep commitment to improving patient outcomes.
Roya’s approach to nursing is rooted in compassion, empathy, and holistic patient care. She emphasizes supporting patients and their families as an integrated unit, believing that strong family involvement is vital to recovery. Her philosophy underscores nursing as a calling to serve humanity, guiding her interactions with patients, colleagues, and the broader transplant community.
Beginning her career as a medical student in Iran and gaining early nursing experience in pediatric ICU settings, Roya honed her transplant expertise at Toronto General Hospital and through specialized training at IU. She is a former member of ISHLT and has contributed her skills internationally by volunteering with Doctors Without Borders to support cardiac surgery programs in Peru and other countries. With a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain University and a lifelong commitment to professional growth, Roya continues to seek opportunities to advance transplant care and coordination.

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the nursing field is to approach the profession with genuine passion for both nursing and the people you serve. Cultivate empathy, involve families in care plans whenever possible, and remain adaptable. Commit to continuous learning, as it is essential for sustaining a long and fulfilling career in healthcare.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life include curiosity, exploration, and a love for experiences that broaden my perspective. I cherish travel, visiting national parks, and spending time with my dogs—Mulan, Mila, Sinbad, and Alibaba. I also value continuous learning and reflection, which I nurture through reading and embracing new adventures.
