About Ruby

Ruby Farias serves as an Account Executive in hospice at Dependable, a company that provides both hospice and home health services. In this role, she oversees initiation conversations with patients and families, provides education to hospitals and facilities, performs bedside visits, and coordinates nurses for the continuum of care. With more than 15 years in the medical field, Ruby previously worked for eight years as an orthopedic trauma tech handling wound care, infection control, and pre- and post-operative care for senior patients. She also served as a phlebotomy tech and in marketing for physical therapy, and earlier managed three branches for Wells Fargo for five to six years. Ruby completed college, medical assistant school, phlebotomy training, casting classes, and received global certification under her provider. She is fluent in Spanish and holds certification as a medical Spanish translator from Banner. Beyond her professional duties, Ruby is an ambassador for the Tucson Rodeo and participates in TC3 ride-alongs with the Tucson Fire Department to address community medical needs, including providing education on Native American reservations such as the Yaki and Pasqua Yaki. She attributes her success to being a single mom and the advice from her father to work hard and show up for what she was sent to do. Ruby values consistency, being true to herself, and remaining personable and involved with families throughout their journey, emphasizing teamwork and punctuality in service to patients.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Ruby

01What do you attribute your success to?

Being a single mom has been key to my success. My dad always told me to work hard for myself and show up for what God sent me here to do, because you never know what might happen. I had no options but to succeed and was not going to fail.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

My manager Alfredo at Wells Fargo always said just follow your heart. Follow your heart and people will follow with you. I've given advice from the heart and that's what I've done throughout my career.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't give up. Being a female is so empowering that we underestimate our abilities. Even in male-dominated industries like Wells Fargo where I got stepped on verbally, feed off of that and keep striving because there's nothing you can't do.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

It's a male dominant field but the opportunity is to make yourself apart and different by being consistent, genuine, caring, and using that natural female instinct in the hospice field.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Consistency and being true to yourself and what you're doing, because that transmits to the families. I am very personable and get involved with families for the full ride until the end of the journey. Teamwork is key and my biggest pet peeve is being late because we're wasting patients' time. It's all about the patient and families.
