Her Story

About Runa

Runa Singh is an Engineering Manager at State Farm Insurance, where she has built her entire career over the past 18 years within the insurance industry. Based in Richardson, Texas, she currently leads a team of 10 to 20 engineers and architects, overseeing the architecture and delivery of API-driven, customer- and agent-facing platforms that support a multi-million policy base. Her role encompasses shaping product vision, guiding the engineering technology stack, and developing the people behind it, all in service of driving growth and profitability for the enterprise. Earlier in her tenure, she held a variety of technical positions, including architect, where she helped modernize core insurance platforms and led large-scale digital transformation efforts across personal, commercial, and life insurance lines.

Singh's technical expertise centers on data architecture and distributed systems at enterprise scale. She has led the design of event-driven architectures across hybrid cloud and on-premises environments, and she scaled a cloud-based data quality platform in AWS that processes millions of records against thousands of rules, generating billions of data quality checks to support underwriting, rating, and regulatory reporting. Her work has driven significant reductions in manual data validation, measurable gains in system performance, and millions of dollars in enterprise cost savings, reflecting her ability to align technical execution with tangible business outcomes. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Delhi University and a Master of Science in Information Technology from Southern New Hampshire University, and she has earned credentials including the AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate and the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designation.

Beyond her core responsibilities, Singh is recognized for her ability to unite teams around a shared long-term vision, fostering cultures of ownership and strong engineering fundamentals. She was selected as one of the Influential Women of Frisco City, Texas in 2026, a reflection of her leadership and impact within the industry. An active volunteer, she has served as a Project Manager with 48in48, a charitable initiative in which teams build websites for nonprofit organizations. Singh is fluent in both English and Hindi, and she credits her achievements to hard work, persistence, and drive, supported by a strong foundation at home. She remains guided by the values of accountability, transparency, and teamwork, and continues to advocate for lifelong learning and adaptability, particularly for young women navigating careers in technology and insurance.
