About Rupal

Rupal Chauhan serves as a Program Manager in the customer success and implementation department of a healthtech company, a role she has held for approximately one year. Her professional journey began after earning a Bachelor's in Computer Science and Engineering, when she worked as a software engineer at Fidelity Investments for two years. She then pursued an MBA with a major in marketing from SPJ Institute of Management and Research in Bombay, India, which led to three years in marketing and brand management at Asian Paints, where she launched a home improvement category brand on e-commerce that grew to generate significant revenue. Seeking to return to technology, she completed a Master's in Product Management from Carnegie Mellon University last year and briefly joined the startup Basque Health before transitioning to her current position focused on using AI to automate insurance processes in healthcare. Rupal's core strengths lie in business and strategy as well as product and program management within the healthtech industry. She attributes her success to the values instilled by her parents during her upbringing and actively mentors young professionals as a top 1% mentor on Topmate while co-founding an NGO dedicated to menstrual hygiene awareness and distributing sanitary napkins.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Rupal

01What do you attribute your success to?

I would definitely like to be thankful or grateful to my parents, because I think a lot of it has happened during my upbringing when I was a kid. Doing things in a certain way, or like giving your 100% in whatever work you're doing has taken me a long way. The values that they have instilled within me during my childhood has really shaped who I am today.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Whenever you step into a new role, look beyond your role, try to understand the organization holistically, try to look at the bigger picture, try to place yourself in the bigger organization, and do not limit yourself just to your KPIs, but rather look at the vision and the mission of the organization.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Knowing the basics go a long way. The trends would shift with time, but what remains are the basics and the foundations. Having a good network of people, do not hesitate from reaching out to people, just asking questions and just reaching out to people, randomly initiating a conversation on a coffee chat goes a long way.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Clarity has been one of the major challenges, especially in my early 20s. With new AI tools coming up, it has become very easy to learn about a new field, and there is a lot of opportunity in terms of entrepreneurship. It has become very easy to execute and work upon an idea and scale it.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Having a clear and transparent communication is really important for me in both personal and professional life. It helps to keep the air clean, out of tension, and create genuine bonds. Having your North Star matrix well very clear, having that one vision or goal very clear that you're working towards helps me keep going every day.
