About Rutu
I have been in my field for about 10 years, starting as a federal consultant right out of college. I began in software development, doing all kinds of different roles before eventually getting into project management. By chance, I was placed on a project using the agile way of working, which was this new shiny thing at the time. I ended up changing jobs and went to Accela Consulting, based in Arlington, Virginia, a federal consulting company that was the industry leader in the agile space. There, I was able to connect with so many leaders, teachers, and coaches who were really shaping how to do this type of work - they were writing books and doing conferences, and I got to work with them one-on-one for over 4 years. That's where I really appreciated this way of working, and over time, I've been able to apply it at scale, both at a large scale and at a very small scale in my day-to-day personal life. If I have taken away anything from that, it's how to find efficiencies in anything. Now I work at a much larger scale at Visa in the payments industry, but my number one goal is to help my programs find efficiencies in the way we work. That continues to be my mission with my children, my home, and also with my career.
