Ryann Sax is a graduating undergraduate student at Chapman University, where she will earn a dual degree: a Bachelor of Science in Business Entrepreneurship and a Bachelor of Arts in Creative and Cultural Industries with a focus on fashion in international contexts. She currently serves as a Style Advisor at Equinox, where she delivers personalized, client-focused styling experiences that blend fashion expertise with lifestyle and performance-driven retail. Based in the Los Angeles metropolitan area, she is a business-minded creative whose academic path reflects a deliberate integration of strategic business training and global fashion studies. Her work is grounded in the belief that creativity and commerce are most powerful when developed together, particularly within the evolving landscape of the fashion industry.
Professionally, Ryann has spent the past two years building experience across fashion and business roles. She began her career as an assistant to the CEO of a footwear company, gaining early exposure to executive operations and product-driven business strategy. For the past seven months, she has worked in retail as a Style Advisor, where she curates client wardrobes, introduces new product collections, supports merchandising efforts, and fosters strong stylist-client relationships centered on confidence and personal expression. She has recently been offered a Manager on Duty (MOD) role at a new retail location, further expanding her leadership responsibilities in store operations and team oversight.
Alongside her professional work, Ryann has pursued fashion design as a lifelong passion. A self-taught sewer and avid thrifter, she has independently built much of her wardrobe while developing hands-on design and construction skills. Her long-term goal is to become a fashion designer with a focus on sustainability and conscious production. She is particularly motivated by the need to address overproduction in the fashion industry, advocating for more responsible consumption and design practices that extend the life cycle of clothing. Through her academic background, retail experience, and creative practice, Ryann is committed to making a meaningful impact at the intersection of fashion, sustainability, and business innovation.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I think honestly my hard work and leadership skills. I've had a lot of mental health challenges and just things not going my way, but I'm still graduating within 4 years, getting 2 degrees. Despite facing mental health challenges and obstacles along the way, I've persevered through hard work and strong leadership abilities, staying on track to graduate on time with my double major.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice I've ever received - and this is so recent in my mind because I just watched The Devil Wears Prada 2 - is about persistence and never giving up. Andy never gave up, she was persistent, and she came back to her path. I think just working hard and knowing your self-worth is the best thing you could do. It's about staying committed to your goals and understanding your own value.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't let a man stop you.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I think the biggest opportunity right now is addressing how much waste there is within clothing. There's enough clothing right now for the next 6 generations to use and not have to produce a single thing, and obviously that needs to change. Landfills are filling up with all of these clothes, and fast fashion brands are the number one thing right now causing that. So I think that's probably the biggest challenge right now - just solving that problem of waste and sustainability in the fashion industry.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I think my Judaism comes first. It's just always something I've been very proud of, and obviously as president of Chabad, it's something I've been getting more and more into. I also just think being kind - that's always been number one priority for me - and being hardworking. These three values guide everything I do both professionally and personally.
