My journey to where I am today has been a long and arduous road spanning 34 years of suffering with often debilitating chronic fatigue and chronic illness. I previously worked as a social worker in the government sector with CPS, but I had to give up that career back in 2018, due to my health struggles. Throughout my life, I've dealt with chronic fatigue syndrome, Lyme disease, and the brutal effects of complex trauma. Despite all of this, I persevered to earn my Bachelor of Social Sciences degree with a minor in Women's Studies from Portland State University. This was set to happen in 2006, but as I was two classes shy from finishing, eager to walk in my graduation ceremony, I was told I had exhausted my financial aid. That day, after battling years of severe trauma-induced depression and anxiety while managing to keep up in my classes, I stepped away. Returning in 2013, I finally graduated. More recently, God healed me of chronic illness and the effects of the traumatic injuries I endured. In the midst of this miraculous healing, God brought this position to me as a Curriculum Program Manager at BeMultiplied and I am beginning a new professional path. I lead an academic services team of course publishers and a translation manager, juggling multiple priorities and translated course curriculum in collaboration with remote coworkers in other states and countries. We're putting out curriculum on a global level and helping build the Kingdom of God, spreading the gospel, and multiplying servant leaders. Getting to lead this team for a bigger purpose, is a blessing I have been gifted. It is the greatest privilege to serve my Heavenly Father on this scale.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to God first and foremost, as well as my family. He's the cornerstone of my life and has brought me through all of the many challenges I have faced, helping me persevere and giving me the strength and hope that I've needed to get to where I am today. Putting Him first and doing his work opened this door for me. I listened and jumped in, despite understanding where God was leading me, and He is restoring my life day by day! I'm loving it and I am extremely grateful for this opportunity.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received is making people a priority. I think putting people first (after God, of course) is something that a strong leader does. One can lead, but a true leader is one who can walk in another’s shoes.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don’t let the bumps in the road trip you up. Just keep going, putting one foot in front of the other. Do the next right thing, keeping your eyes up. And, don’t you ever give up. Never underestimate what God can do in your life!

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is reaching all of the people that we want to reach and just making that happen.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Putting God first, is my biggest priority. He brought me through everything that I've been through and helped me to persevere, giving me the strength, hope, and peace that I've needed to live for Him. After God, I value family, close friendships, health, creativity, integrity, and bold authenticity. These are the things that I love the most and help me to thrive in my professional and personal life.
