Her Interview
Ten minutes with Saba
01What do you attribute your success to?
Right now, as I'm getting older, I want to secure a life for my children. There's privilege in the life that I live right now. I don't want to take that for granted. I want to use that to open up as many doors as I possibly can to other children, other women that I know have the talent, have the skill, have the effort and willingness to succeed, but haven't been provided the opportunity to do so. More fulfilling than being able to pave a path for someone else to succeed and be able to provide for their family, to be able to develop and grow, and then give back to their community.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
For anyone in their 20s right now, the main important thing is to kind of know what you want. In your 20s, explore as many industries as you possibly could. I did anything from radio hosting to music to construction. I opened a construction company when I was young before I ended up in logistics. By the time that I actually landed my corporate job, I was much more exposed than a lot of people because I was daring enough to try and explore those industries. I learned from failures at not so high cost. It's harder to fail in your 30s than it is in your 20s. Know what you're good at, what you like to do, and what fuels your soul. Align in terms of mission and purpose with whoever you work with. Culture was everything. Give yourself enough opportunities. Not all of them have to be right, but the wrong ones early on are actually the better ones because if you know where you do not belong early on, then you would know how to avoid it.
