Her Story

About Sabrina

I've been doing event planning and event management for 2 years now, specializing in resident events, private events, personal events, private parties, and proms. I don't have any educational background in the industry I'm in. I got my associate's degree in criminal justice and security administration in 2016, which kind of helped because I started off as doorstaff, and that helped me introduce properties and management companies that trusted my brand and helped me within starting my business to do their residence events. I won the Kami Awards last year for 2025, and to me, that was the most achievable because they mentioned my resident events and how I really paid attention to detail, and that was a big moment for me in Chicago. I'm a full-time mom, so when I'm not planning events, I'm with my kids, and most of the time, my kids are helping me with my events. It's kind of like my business, my brand is my hobby.

Ten minutes with Sabrina

01What do you attribute your success to?

Honestly, I believe it's just my care of heart and me being an outgoing person and a bubbly person. I'm gonna say my personality, that's what I'm gonna say. My personality.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I ever received was from a mentor who helps me out with a lot. He always told me to never be afraid to put myself out there, and always go high, and never go low.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice would be to them is start. It took me a long time to start this brand and this business, because I was hesitant, because it's a lot of event planners in Chicago. You never know, it's not about what you know, it's who you know. Someone you know can lead you to other people that can lead you to other things, so just start.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

My biggest challenge that I'm having right now is, honestly, I'm trying to build a team. My biggest challenge is just trying to find copy and paste of me, basically. I'm trying to find a team that's gonna look at my brand as our brand. As for opportunities, with my field, I've had opportunities to work with high-profile clients and build relationships with other businesses that I'm able to collaborate with and build partnerships for my clients. This industry really opens you up to a lot of opportunities.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I value honesty, and I value accountability and respect. People trust me, and I'm always mentioned as an approachable person, outgoing, professional. Those are my values.
