About Sabrina

Sabrina Robertson serves as CEO of SDC Consulting, LLC, a company that delivers professional development to organizations, Head Start centers, and consultants. In this role she also works as a developmental therapist and evaluator, providing direct service and evaluation to children with special needs. With 35 years of experience in early childhood education, Sabrina's path began with inspiration from a nurturing kindergarten teacher, leading her to pursue teaching and later expand into coaching, mentoring, and volunteering in classrooms while staying current with research in the field. A typical day involves early preparation for developmental sessions and interactive workshops, contract follow-ups, client emails, LinkedIn engagement, and reviewing participant feedback that fuels her passion. She describes herself as the fairy godmother of child development, skilled at making connections with children through responsive care, co-regulation, and sensory support. Sabrina attributes her success to setting two personal goals each year as a blueprint and emphasizes the importance of pivoting with resilience while seeing the good in every situation. Her core values center on integrity and treating others with kindness and respect, and she advises young women to follow their dreams, noting that her own work now feels like a realized dream. She recently published the book Play is the Curriculum and aims to train teachers worldwide on the importance of play through hands-on workshops.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Sabrina

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to faith, clear goals, and consistent action. Each year, I write down specific goals that serve as my blueprint. Keeping them visible reminds me where I’m going and holds me accountable. I don’t just dream about success, I create a plan, work toward it daily, and remain committed even when progress takes time.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received is to remain resilient and never be afraid to pivot. Every season will not be easy, but a difficult day does not define your journey. Learn from every experience, adjust when necessary, and trust that tomorrow brings another opportunity to grow.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Follow your dreams, but understand that dreams require courage, preparation, and consistent action. There will be moments when the path feels uncertain, but do not allow fear or other people’s limitations to stop you. Everything I am doing today once felt impossible. Believe in your purpose, keep learning, build meaningful relationships, and remain committed, even when progress is slow. Dreams do come true when you are willing to work for them.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of my biggest challenges as a small business owner is balancing great ideas with limited time. I’ve learned to prioritize what matters most, give myself grace, and collaborate with like-minded people.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity. I believe in treating others the way I want to be treated with kindness, compassion, and respect. You never truly know what someone may be going through, so I strive to lead with empathy in every interaction.
