What do you attribute your success to?

For more than three decades, my career has been defined by adaptability, leadership, and a deep respect for the people who make businesses thrive both customers and teams. What began as babysitting at age twelve evolved into a lifelong commitment to service, management, and growth across multiple industries, with retail always at the core. My grandfather was in retail, and I had the privilege of serving as his office manager, learning responsibility and work ethic early on. Along the way, I broadened my experience in food service and automotive repair, sharpening my problem-solving abilities and reinforcing the value of versatility, resilience, and a deep understanding of operations from the ground up.

Today, I serve as a Specialty Manager, leading sales initiatives, mentoring teams, and driving performance through accountability and collaboration. Recognition at the district level and professional awards have affirmed my leadership approach, but what matters most is creating environments where people feel supported, capable, and motivated to succeed like when my team was named one of the best retailers, highlighted in the local newspaper. Looking ahead, I aspire to create my own business or franchise, implementing the changes I’ve long envisioned and leading with integrity, efficiency, and respect.

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don’t take everything personally, especially when starting out this can be a difficult concept to grasp. I am both a people person and a people pleaser, and early on, if I dealt with an agitated customer, I often thought it was my fault. In reality, most customers are likely dealing with situations outside of my control.

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I’m always looking at processes to see how I can improve them and make the day and the business better for my associates. Being a leader is important to me, and over the years, I have learned what I don’t like or respond to. I strive to reflect positive leadership and believe in never stopping my growth through hard work and determination.
