Her Story

About Sage

Sage Avarda is a new media strategist and social content professional at Prove, where she develops innovative content strategies that elevate conversations around identity verification, trust, and fintech. Specializing in B2B marketing, executive thought leadership, podcasts, video production, and social media, Sage helps industry leaders and subject matter experts transform complex ideas into engaging stories that connect with audiences and strengthen digital influence. She is also the principal producer and cohost of 100proof, Prove’s trust and identity happy hour show, where she facilitates conversations with innovators shaping the future of digital identity, authentication, and fraud prevention.

Sage’s career journey reflects her passion for storytelling, education, and meaningful connection. She began her professional path in membership development within the health nonprofit sector before transitioning into customer service at a health technology company. Recognizing an opportunity to educate customers at scale, she launched a podcast addressing common industry questions, an initiative that showcased her talent for communication and led to a content leadership opportunity. In 2022, she transitioned into the trust and identity space through a content role at Britive, later expanding her expertise through roles in cybersecurity, fintech, and identity verification. Today, she continues to build impactful marketing initiatives that bring together technology, financial services, and human-centered storytelling.

Sage holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts & Sciences, General Studies & Humanities and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on Business, Management, and Marketing from Western Washington University. Throughout her career, she has been guided by the values of collaboration, authenticity, curiosity, and community. She credits much of her success to the relationships she has built and the mentorship she has received from influential women, including her great-aunt Joan Elvin, founder of the Ovarian and Breast Cancer Alliance of Washington. Passionate about remaining in the trust ecosystem, Sage continues to grow as a thought leader by creating meaningful conversations, amplifying industry voices, and helping shape the future of digital trust and security.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Sage

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to curiosity, authentic relationships, and a willingness to create opportunities rather than wait for them. My career has taken an unconventional path—from nonprofit membership development and customer service to content strategy, fintech, cybersecurity, and digital identity—but every step has been driven by a passion for educating others and telling meaningful stories. Building genuine connections has opened doors throughout my career, and I am especially grateful to the remarkable women who mentored, encouraged, and challenged me to pursue opportunities I may not have discovered on my own. I also believe success comes from continuously learning, which is why every conversation I facilitate, every executive I interview, and every piece of content I produce strengthens my own expertise. Most importantly, I have found a true purpose in the trust and identity industry, where I can help elevate important conversations about fraud prevention, digital identity, and consumer trust while contributing to a mission that makes the digital world safer.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received is to recognize the power of relationships and the importance of building a strong community around you. Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to learn from remarkable women who invested in my growth, encouraged me to pursue new opportunities, and helped me see possibilities I may not have recognized on my own. My great-aunt, Joan Elvin, founder of the Ovarian or Breast Cancer Alliance of Washington, was one of my earliest influences, teaching me the value of service, connection, and mission-driven leadership through her example. I have also been inspired by leaders and collaborators like Nicole Casperson and Michelle Beyo, who have shown me the impact of creating inclusive communities and lifting others along the way. Their guidance reinforced my belief that success is not achieved alone—it is built through curiosity, collaboration, mentorship, and a commitment to helping others grow.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the trust, identity, and fraud prevention industries is to lead with curiosity and embrace the opportunity to learn. This field is filled with experienced professionals who have spent decades solving complex challenges, but every expert started somewhere—with questions, a willingness to grow, and a desire to understand. Do not be afraid to ask questions, seek mentorship, and build relationships with those around you. One of the greatest strengths of this industry is its collaborative community, especially among women who are committed to supporting and elevating one another. I have experienced firsthand the impact of having mentors, peers, and advocates who open doors and share their knowledge. By staying curious, embracing mentorship, and contributing to a culture of collaboration, young women can build confidence, expand their expertise, and help shape the future of trust, identity, and financial innovation.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges and opportunities in the trust and identity industry is the constant pace of change. As fraud tactics become more sophisticated and technology continues to evolve, professionals must remain adaptable, curious, and committed to continuous learning. I see this evolving landscape as an opportunity to bring together experts across technology, financial services, cybersecurity, compliance, and customer experience to solve complex challenges through collaboration. The strength of this industry lies in its willingness to share knowledge, support one another, and work toward a common goal of creating safer, more trusted digital experiences. With emerging technologies like artificial intelligence reshaping financial services, I believe the greatest opportunity is finding the right balance between innovation, security, transparency, and human connection. By helping facilitate meaningful conversations and amplify the voices of industry leaders, I hope to contribute to shaping the future of trust and identity.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are collaboration, authenticity, creativity, and connection. I believe the strongest outcomes come from supporting one another, sharing knowledge, and celebrating the success of those around us. Throughout my career, I have benefited from people who were willing to collaborate, open doors, and invest in my growth, and I strive to offer that same support to others. Authenticity is equally important to me because meaningful relationships are built when people feel empowered to bring their true selves forward. I also value creativity, whether through storytelling, art, or problem-solving, because it allows us to approach challenges with fresh perspectives and create something meaningful. Whether I am building relationships professionally, creating content, or spending time with my daughter, I aim to bring curiosity, compassion, and a spirit of collaboration to everything I do. My goal is to leave every space more connected, inclusive, and inspired than I found it.
