Her Interview

Ten minutes with Sage

01What do you attribute your success to?

I think that I have had really great support systems in all the companies that I've worked in. I've had people who are really willing to kind of take a risk on me, and believed in me, and really supported me and my career goals.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Putting yourself out there and believing in yourself, even if maybe you don't have the most traditional background or the most traditional experience, is what I would recommend to anyone... put yourself out there, believe in yourself. You're the only one that's gonna do it, so you might as well try.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Just being comfortable and confident in what you're doing, and being willing to take up space, regardless of who all's at the table. Just have confidence in yourself, and know that you belong regardless of the environment that you see yourself in.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is that we kind of exist in a pretty volatile world in terms of the regulatory implications that are present, but also, I think renewable energy as a whole is becoming and this is what I think it should be, it's coming more and more about energy, and I think domestic energy supply and having a, you know, a low-emissions form of energy is extremely important.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Perseverance is a really key underlying theme that is really important in solar specifically, but also, I think, in any form of development, in any form of renewable energy development specifically... just being persistent and being perseverant is key
