Her Interview
Ten minutes with Samantha
01What do you attribute your success to?
My dad really raised me to be extremely driven and to really go after my dreams, and that anything is possible. I have always been an extremely hard worker. We always laughed that my brother had the smarts but didn't want to work as hard, but I could get the same grades because I was working harder.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Be willing to work hard, keep building relationships, and continuously create opportunities for yourself rather than waiting for them to appear.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would definitely start interning young, if you can, and to network as much as possible, reach out to people on LinkedIn that inspire you. Do the work, don't expect anything to be handed to you. It's a very competitive industry, and try to not get discouraged, but a lot of it is about networking, and it is about being likable. Always keep your brain creative, and reading, doing different kinds of creative projects.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Podcasts is a super oversaturated market. Everybody thinks their podcast is going to make them money, but monetizing podcasts you have to get millions of downloads. It should be looked at as a hobby or to promote your business. The entertainment industry is in an interesting spot with a lot of use of AI. YouTube is a really great place to be. There's great opportunity for creativity and for people to collaborate.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Loyalty, transparency, living up to your word, and always being honest. Being kind to everyone that you work with and come in contact with. Always leading with kindness.
