Samantha Dench
Samantha Dench is a licensed esthetician, functional medicine practitioner, author, and podcaster with over 23 years of experience in the skincare and wellness industry. She is the owner of Skin Deep Esthetics, LLC, where she has spent the past 16 years helping clients achieve healthy, radiant skin through a holistic approach that integrates beauty with internal wellness. Samantha’s journey in aesthetics was inspired by her personal struggle with adult acne, which led her to explore the gut-skin connection and develop an inside-out approach to treating inflammatory skin conditions such as acne, rosacea, eczema, and psoriasis.
As a thought leader in her field, Samantha has authored Skin Deep: Demystifying Skin Care Solutions and contributed articles to Dermascope Magazine, sharing evidence-based strategies for estheticians and wellness professionals. She is also the founder of Zozo Skincare, a teen-focused skincare line that educates young people on building lifelong healthy skin habits. Passionate about mentorship and professional development, Samantha frequently speaks at conferences, collaborates with industry brands, and provides guidance to fellow estheticians on elevating client results and creating transformative spa experiences.
Samantha recently expanded her expertise by obtaining a functional medicine license, enabling her to perform lab testing and treat clients from an internal-health perspective. This allows her to address the root causes of skin conditions, including hormonal imbalances, gut health, and chronic inflammation. As a single mother of three teenagers, she balances running her practice, writing, podcasting, and continuing education with her commitment to helping clients and inspiring the aesthetics industry. Her work exemplifies a unique blend of clinical skill, business acumen, and holistic wellness philosophy.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a deep passion for learning and a commitment to seeing things through. I don’t just set goals—I take action and ensure they are achieved, holding myself accountable every step of the way. Integrity is central to how I operate; I strive to walk the walk, not just talk the talk. My path into functional medicine stems from personal experience—I’ve healed my own gut and explored numerous approaches firsthand. This combination of professional expertise and lived experience allows me to guide others with both knowledge and empathy.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to keep taking steps forward, even if the path isn’t completely clear. Opportunities often come from action, and sometimes the first step opens a door—or closes one. When that happens, it’s important to stay aware and adaptable, recognizing when to pivot or try a new direction. Trust the process, stay curious, and let each experience guide you toward the right path.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field right now is helping the aesthetics industry look beyond surface-level skin concerns. While many treatments focus on immediate results, understanding the deeper connection between internal health and skin response is critical. As a contributor to a trade magazine, I’m passionate about sharing this knowledge with estheticians so they can better serve their clients—including medical estheticians—by integrating a more holistic, informed approach. This also presents a significant opportunity to elevate standards of care and improve outcomes across the industry.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide me most in both my work and personal life are accountability and integrity. When I commit to something, I follow through fully and hold myself to the highest standard—sometimes to the point of overachieving. Integrity is equally important; I strive to walk the walk, not just talk the talk. My path into functional medicine reflects this—I’ve personally healed my own gut and explored many approaches firsthand. This combination of professional expertise and lived experience allows me to guide others with both credibility and empathy.
