About Samantha
I've been a nurse for over 8 years, and a little over 2 years ago, I started Newborn Prep 101 from the ground up. The inspiration came when my sister became pregnant and asked me to educate her and the rest of my family in CPR for infants and children. After I did that, many people continued to ask, and I thought that there was something there, and I ran with it. I created this company because everyone always says that they're just handed a baby in the hospital, and then they get sent home, and they're like, what do I do now? We offer CPR classes for infants and children, as well as a general newborn prep class that goes over things like diaper changing, swaddling, and breastfeeding. I work with independent contractors who are all registered nurses and nurse practitioners in different states and cities - we're currently in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Boston, Chicago, LA, and Washington, D.C. right now. A typical day for me involves teaching some classes myself, but I also handle everything on the back end like scheduling people's classes, making sure that payments are in, managing our Instagram account, marketing, and getting our flyers into different offices, whether it's pediatricians or gynecologist offices. I still work at the hospital per diem as a neonatal nurse practitioner. My most notable professional achievement so far would probably be honestly coming up with this business and really starting it myself from the ground up - countless nights were spent working on it. I was working full-time at the hospital when I started it, so it was essentially like two full-time jobs. I really sacrificed a personal life at the time for a solid year, year and a half. One day, I eventually hope to add a bunch of different services to Newborn Prep, like having a sleep consultant, having potty trainers, having lactation, and all different services, so it could be like a one-stop shop for parents.
