Her Story

About Samantha

I started as a software engineer in India working for a U.S. bank. After three years I quit to pursue my MBA at University of Arizona because I wanted more say in product direction. An internship at Walmart introduced me to product management. I worked at Overstock in Salt Lake City, then Carfax in Virginia after getting married, and now at House where I handle end-to-end product management for e-commerce and B2B SaaS.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Samantha

01What do you attribute your success to?

My ability to adapt quickly to change, switch directions, and think on my feet based on company needs and priorities. This flexibility has allowed me to take on bigger roles and make larger impacts across different positions.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't wait for the perfect moment because nobody is ever completely ready. Just try it, get your feet wet, and learn on the job. Try as many different ways as you can to get your foot in the door, and once you're there you can figure out how to grow.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The field is changing fast with AI, requiring PMs to move quicker from discovery to launch and wear more hats including possibly coding. This is a challenge but also an opportunity as AI levels the playing field between experienced and entry-level PMs, rewarding flexibility.
