Her Interview

Ten minutes with Samantha

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my passion for capturing memories. One day I was reading a book that said one day all you would have left is the photos of that person. My parent passed away my last year in college, and that was when I bought my first camera, so the only thing I had left were photos. I always tell people these are memories you cannot get back.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received and still apply is 'scared money makes no money.' Meaning if you do not invest in yourself because you're scared, your business is not going to prosper. You have to invest in yourself.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would always tell them never give up. There have been times where life was getting to me, and I would be like, oh, I'm not doing this no more, such as me looking at other people work and seeing how far they're ahead, just being a mom, motherhood can get overwhelming, and grieving my parents. But just don't give up. Because if you never start, you will never know where you could have been.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

My relationship with God is an important value to me. Family is a value because I am a mom. Also focus, writing down your goals and praying over them.
