Samantha Weeks

Patient Services Coordinator
James Clinic
Chesterfield, MI

I’m a Patient Services Coordinator at James Clinic, a woman-owned concierge healthcare practice with an all-women team. I guide hundreds of patients across multiple states through membership enrollment, scheduling, follow-ups, billing, and EMR documentation — making sure every touchpoint of their care journey is seamless, supportive, and personalized. I’m the virtual front desk, the problem-solver, and the connector between patients, nurses, and providers, ensuring no detail is missed and every patient feels seen and understood.

My career began in hospitality, where fast-paced, high-pressure environments taught me how to stay calm under pressure, anticipate needs, and lead teams with efficiency, clarity, and patience. Those skills translate directly to healthcare operations: managing multi-state workflows, coordinating care for hundreds of patients, and supporting both the clinical and now the sales side of our practice. Whether it’s optimizing processes, solving complex scheduling challenges, or supporting new membership enrollments, I bring resilience, organization, and adaptability to every task.

I’m also a children’s book author, creating stories that spark curiosity, resilience, and empathy in young readers. Every day, I combine creativity, people-first leadership, and operational expertise to make an impact — showing that empathy, skill, and determination are powerful tools for success. My journey reflects perseverance, growth, and a commitment to thriving in every challenge I take on, proving that women can lead, innovate, and elevate any space they step into.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to resilience — the kind that grows quietly, through challenge and persistence. Growing up in a family affected by addiction and mental illness taught me empathy, emotional awareness, and how to read a room before a word is spoken. It showed me that strength and struggle often go hand in hand, and that choosing growth, even in difficult circumstances, is a superpower.

Living with generalized anxiety disorder and fibromyalgia has added another layer to that resilience. Navigating invisible challenges has taught me discipline, self-advocacy, and how to stay grounded when life gets hard. I’ve learned that leadership isn’t about being loud or in control — it’s about showing up, staying steady, and leading with compassion.

Working in a woman-owned, all-women healthcare team has reinforced my belief in girl power: collaboration over competition, lifting each other up, and creating space for everyone to thrive. My journey has taught me that adversity doesn’t define you — how you rise does. Sometimes, success is simply having the courage to keep going and showing up for yourself and others every single day.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I ever received was simple: show up, be dependable, and do the work — the rest will follow.

Early in my career, I learned that leadership isn’t about titles or recognition; it’s about being someone people can count on, especially when the pressure is high. That lesson carried me from the fast-paced chaos of hospitality to coordinating care for hundreds of patients in multi-state healthcare operations.

Success isn’t always flashy. It’s in the discipline to handle the hard days, the courage to take on challenges you weren’t sure you could manage, and the quiet confidence that comes from knowing you can rise to the occasion — every single time.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering any industry: keep showing up, advocate for yourself, and never let anyone else define your potential.

I love hospitality — it taught me resilience, patience, communication, and how to thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure environments. It’s not a “lesser” place to be, but I wanted to challenge myself, grow, and explore new opportunities. I kept learning, earning my degree, and taking on challenges that pushed me outside my comfort zone — trusting that the skills I had built truly mattered.

Living with fibromyalgia and anxiety has added another layer to that journey. It’s taught me discipline, self-awareness, and how to navigate invisible obstacles while still showing up and performing at a high level. These experiences reinforced that true strength is often quiet, built over time, and defined by persistence rather than perfection.

What I’ve learned is that skills are always transferable. The customers I served behind a bar aren’t so different from the 700 patients I support now. The environment may change, but the ability to connect, problem-solve, lead, and empathize remains the same.

Your path may not be straight, and it may come with unexpected challenges, but if you keep showing up, learning, and believing in yourself, opportunities will appear that you never even imagined. Embrace growth, honor your resilience, and remember that perseverance — even on the hard days — is a superpower.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the greatest challenges in my field is supporting patients in our Terrain program, James Clinic’s concierge program for cancer care. These patients are facing some of the most difficult moments of their lives, and my role is to ensure they receive the care, guidance, and support they need. I help them understand their options, navigate membership decisions, and access the right resources — all while providing a steady, compassionate presence.

Concierge medicine also brings unique operational challenges. I manage billing, membership enrollment, and program questions, ensuring patients understand their options and feel confident in their decisions. At the same time, I often have to navigate sensitive conversations, explaining complex medical information or guiding patients through difficult choices with empathy and clarity. Balancing practical guidance with compassion requires constant focus, emotional intelligence, and clear communication.

Every day, these challenges reinforce why empathy, patience, and thoughtful leadership are essential in concierge care. Supporting patients through critical moments while managing the administrative and emotional aspects of their experience is both demanding and profoundly rewarding — and it’s what makes this work so meaningful.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that drive me are empathy, compassion, resilience, and fearless growth. Growing up in a family affected by addiction and mental health challenges taught me early on how to navigate hardship, understand others’ struggles, and respond with care and intention. Living with my own anxiety and fibromyalgia has added another layer to that resilience, teaching me discipline, self-advocacy, and how to keep showing up even on the hardest days. These experiences shaped not just how I approach work, but how I lead, connect, and support others in every part of my life.

I thrive on learning, evolving, and stepping into challenges that push me beyond my comfort zone. At James Clinic, I balance patient coordination with contributions to our sales and development team, managing complex workflows, multi-state memberships, and sensitive patient interactions. This work requires empathy, clarity, and adaptability — and it proves every day that women can excel, innovate, and lead in any arena.

My daughter is also a constant source of inspiration. I want her to see her Momma as her own biggest fan — someone who shows up, believes in herself, and embraces every opportunity to grow. My drive isn’t just for professional success; it’s to model courage, determination, and self-confidence for the next generation.

For me, success isn’t just about achieving goals. It’s about showing up consistently, staying grounded in your values, and embracing growth — even when the path is steep. It’s about using every challenge as an opportunity to learn, lift others, and lead with intention. Resilience is a muscle we build over time, and the courage to persist, evolve, and keep pushing forward is what defines lasting success.
